On the Death Anniversary of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani, two explosions were heard in quick succession near his grave. More than 100 people were killed in this explosion and 170 people were injured.
The Explosion occurred during the ceremony held to mark the killing of Iran’s top commander in a US Drone attack at Baghdad airport in 2020.
Qasem Soleimani headed the Quds Force- the foreign operations arm of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps. His death in 2020 led to fears of a direct military confrontation between Iran and the US.
Iranian media reported that the first Blast happened at 14:50 local time (11:20 GMT), from the Garden of Martyrs cemetery around the Saheb al-Zaman mosque, and 15 minutes later second Bomb blast took place around 1 km away from Martyrs cemetery.
